The Saffredi IGT 2023 from Fattoria Le Pupille is an iconic Supertuscan from Maremma, among Italy’s most renowned and prestigious red wines. It was created through the visionary insight of Elisabetta Geppetti and her collaboration with the legendary winemaker Giacomo Tachis, who recognized the potential of this region and sought to craft a wine capable of competing with great Supertuscans such as Sassicaia and Tignanello. Saffredi also pays personal tribute to Fredi, Elisabetta’s inspiring mentor, whose passion for wine left a lasting mark.
In the glass, the Saffredi 2023 displays a deep, intense ruby color with violet highlights, offering an impressively complex aromatic bouquet. Ripe black fruits, cherries, and forest berries emerge, complemented by delicate spice, tobacco, cedar, and balsamic nuances – a reflection of the soil and careful barrel aging.
On the palate, this Supertuscan is full-bodied, powerful, yet elegant, with concentrated fruit, lively acidity, and silky tannins providing structure and longevity. The combination of ripe fruit, refined spices, and subtle mineral notes delivers a long, harmonious finish of remarkable finesse.
The blend is based on a classic Bordeaux-style mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, contributing depth, complexity, and excellent aging potential.
With approximately 18 months of barrel aging and a balanced profile, the Saffredi 2023 is an intense expression of the Maremma terroir, combining power and elegance while embodying Le Pupille’s philosophy: quality, authenticity, and true expression of the land.
