Merlot-Cabernet DOC
Kaltern Merlot-Cabernet DOC 2024 combines Merlot and Cabernet in a characterful red wine from South Tyrol. The grapes come from south- and east-facing vineyards situated at elevations between 230 and 350 metres. The vines grow on clay-rich calcareous gravel with a small proportion of sand and are trained using both Guyot and pergola systems. Fermentation on the skins includes a ten-day maceration. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for four months, partly in large wooden casks and partly in stainless steel tanks. With its firm structure, it pairs particularly well with grilled meat, game dishes and mature cheeses. In the glass, the wine shows an intense red colour. The bouquet combines forest berries and sour cherry with spicy and fresh notes. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, with a powerful yet elegant structure.
