Lagrein Riserva DOC Lareith
The Lagrein Riserva DOC Lareith 2023 comes from vineyards situated on gentle east- to south-east-facing slopes at an altitude of 230 to 260 metres. The soils consist mainly of loamy sand and calcareous gravel. The Lagrein vines are between 10 and 20 years old and are trained using the Guyot system, providing the basis for a characterful South Tyrolean red wine with a clear sense of origin. After harvest, the wine undergoes around two weeks of fermentation on the skins. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in barriques, where the wine matures for twelve months. Before bottling, it is only lightly filtered. The designation Riserva is more than a stylistic description: Alto Adige DOC Lagrein must undergo a minimum ageing period of two years, calculated from 1 October of the harvest year. In the glass, the Lareith displays a deep red colour with violet reflections. The nose combines ripe berries with delicate notes of forest floor and cocoa. On the palate, it is dense and creamy, supported by fine-grained tannins. The long finish highlights its powerful yet balanced structure.
