The Pinot Grigio DOC Vigna Castel Ringberg 2024 from Elena Walch originates from one of South Tyrol’s most precisely defined single vineyards, located above Lake Caldaro. The term “Vigna” refers to a clearly delimited plot with a strictly defined origin. The vineyards lie between 330 and 400 meters above sea level and are set on a unique geological intersection of dolomite rock, calcareous gravel, and morainic soils.
Pinot Grigio is one of the key white grape varieties in South Tyrol, showing here a more structured and complex style than in many other regions. The combination of alpine freshness and Mediterranean influences gives the wine tension, aromatic intensity, and clarity. In a single vineyard such as Castel Ringberg, it develops remarkable depth, elegance, and character. The vinification is carefully balanced: most of the wine is fermented in stainless steel, while a small portion matures in large wooden casks, adding structure and a subtle creamy texture.
In the glass, it shows a deep straw yellow color. The nose is layered with ripe pear, yellow fruit, delicate herbal notes, and floral nuances. On the palate, it combines richness with elegance, supported by juicy fruit, mineral tension, and a slightly creamy texture leading to a long, harmonious finish.
