Chardonnay Riserva DOC Burgum Novum
The Chardonnay Riserva DOC Burgum Novum 2023 belongs to Castelfeder’s prestigious flagship line. The name Burgum Novum derives from the Latin name for Neumarkt, where the winery was founded in 1969, and reflects the estate’s close connection to its origins. Since 1989, the line has brought together selected premium wines shaped by meticulous vineyard work and extended maturation. The Chardonnay grapes come from selected vineyards in the South Tyrolean Unterland. The vines grow on calcareous gravel soils and are trained on trellises. Following the manual harvest, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine then matures for 18 months in barriques, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation. Further ageing in stainless steel and in bottle allows it to develop its complex and well-defined structure. In the glass, it displays a bright straw-yellow colour. The bouquet combines aromas of banana and apple with fine notes of almond, hazelnut and subtle toasted nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and balanced, with elegant intensity, clear structure and a long, persistent finish.
