The Brut Valpitan from Weingut Pföstl is a South Tyrolean sparkling wine made from Chardonnay. The estate is located in Schenna near Merano; Valpitan refers to the selection line and recalls an old field name of the land where the cellar now stands. The sparkling wine is produced using the traditional method with bottle fermentation. Pföstl works with longer lees ageing and traditional hand riddling, giving the wine added finesse, structure and depth. Its style is elegant and works well as an aperitif, with refined starters or light fish dishes. Thanks to its South Tyrolean origin and Chardonnay base, it appears clear, precise and at the same time slightly creamy. In the glass, it shows a pale straw yellow colour with fine bubbles. The aroma recalls baked apple, citrus fruit and delicate yeast notes. On the palate, it is fine, dry and structured, with a fresh, clean finish.
