Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG Le Orme
Barbera d'Asti DOCG Le Orme 2024 by Michele Chiarlo is made from Barbera grapes sourced from selected vineyards in Monferrato. These include La Court and Montemareto in Castelnuovo Calcea, La Serra in Montaldo Scarampi and Costa delle Monache in Agliano. The vines grow on light-coloured sedimentary soils known as Astian Sands, which are rich in limestone and microelements. The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with around ten days of maceration on the skins. During this phase, the cap is handled particularly gently. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel. Before release, the wine is given at least one year to mature. Le Orme also carries the Equalitas sustainability certification. In the glass, the wine shows a ruby-red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense and elegant, recalling both fresh and ripe red fruits, especially cherry and redcurrant. On the palate, it is harmonious, rounded and well structured, with juicy fruit and a pleasantly savoury, delicately spicy note on the finish.
