The Conero Riserva DOCG Sassi Neri 2021 from Le Terrazze Winery is a powerful and elegant red wine from the Marche region on Italy's Adriatic coast. Made exclusively from Montepulciano grapes, it comes from vineyards around Numana on Monte Conero. Its name is inspired by the famous Sassi Neri beach along the Riviera del Conero. First produced in 1988, this Riserva is one of the estate's long-established wines.
Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place with selected yeasts, accompanied by seven to ten days of skin maceration. The wine then matures for twelve months in barriques of varying ages. Following blending, it spends another nine months in stainless steel tanks and approximately two years ageing in the bottle. This extended maturation adds depth to the Montepulciano and supports the harmonious development of its structure.
In the glass, the Sassi Neri displays an intense ruby-red colour with garnet reflections. Its expressive bouquet combines aromas of small red forest berries with delicate spicy and balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, with rich, silky tannins and an enveloping structure. The long, elegant finish highlights its complex character.
