The Patricia Pinot Noir DOC 2024 from Cantina Girlan is made from grapes grown in classic Pinot Noir vineyards in South Tyrol’s Oltradige and Bassa Atesina areas. The vineyards lie at elevations ranging from 380 to 530 metres. In the Oltradige, the soils are shaped by glacial deposits over volcanic porphyry rock, while clay-rich limestone soils prevail on the eastern hills of the Bassa Atesina. The combination of these different origins gives the wine complexity and balance. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in small containers to keep them as intact as possible. After destemming, the must and skins are transferred by gravity into stainless-steel tanks, where fermentation lasts around 20 days. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for twelve months in large wooden casks and then rests for a further six months in bottle. It pairs well with Italian starters, pizza and white meat. In the glass, it displays a ruby-red colour. The intense bouquet recalls sweet cherries, sour cherries and raspberries. On the palate, lively freshness combines with a smooth, velvety texture, leading to a juicy and well-balanced finish.
