The Lagrein Riserva DOC Gries 2023 from Terlan Winery perfectly reflects the character of one of South Tyrol’s most renowned areas for Lagrein cultivation. The historic district of Gries in Bolzano has long been regarded as one of the finest origins for this native grape variety, thanks to its deep alluvial soils and particularly warm microclimate. In this area, Lagrein develops its distinctive style, combining depth, structure and elegance. Made exclusively from Lagrein grapes, this wine comes from carefully selected vineyards around Gries at approximately 250 metres above sea level, benefiting from predominantly south and south-west-facing exposures.

The designation Riserva refers to a longer ageing process, giving the wine additional depth, complexity and ageing potential. Following temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures for around twelve months, partly in large oak casks and partly in barriques, enhancing complexity while preserving its regional identity. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet reveals aromas of wild berries, black cherry and plum, complemented by delicate spicy, mineral and subtle dark chocolate notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet harmonious, with velvety tannins, concentrated fruit and a long, elegant finish.
