Bessererhof Chardonnay Riserva DOC Fellis 2022 is a South Tyrolean white wine made from Chardonnay. The vines grow at around 550 metres above sea level on a warm, well-ventilated west-facing slope with deep sandy-clay soils. The grapes are harvested by hand, undergo a short maceration and are then gently pressed, while the must is clarified through slow sedimentation. Fermentation takes place in 500-litre wooden barrels, some of which are new. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for twelve months on the gross lees in large wooden casks, with regular lees stirring. This is followed by a further year in stainless steel and three months of bottle ageing. This extended maturation adds depth and structure to its Riserva character. It pairs particularly well with full-flavoured starters, fish dishes and white meats. In the glass, it shows an intense golden-yellow colour. The bouquet combines tropical fruit with a touch of vanilla and subtle oak notes. On the palate, it is broad and complex, finely creamy and structured, with a long, mineral finish.
