St. Magdalener Klassisch DOC Reisegger
The St. Magdalener Klassisch DOC Reisegger 2025 from Egger-Ramer comes from the Reisegger vineyard in the classic St. Magdalener area of Bolzano. The vineyards are located at around 350 metres above sea level and are characterised by sandy, loamy soils. The wine is made from the indigenous South Tyrolean grape varieties Schiava Gentile and Lagrein, with vines ranging from 5 to 55 years of age. After the harvest in early October, the grapes are fermented on the skins at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine then matures partly in stainless steel, while the larger portion is aged in tonneaux. The result is a structured yet approachable red wine with a distinctive regional character. It pairs particularly well with starters, traditional Tyrolean dishes such as speck and cured meats, white meat, mild cheeses, pasta and pizza. In the glass, the wine shows a ruby-red colour. The bouquet combines fruity and floral notes with hints of red berries and a delicate almond nuance. On the palate, it is pleasantly soft and fruity, with a firm structure and a characteristic, slightly bitter almond-like note.
