The Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr GG Alte Reben 2024 from Dr. Loosen originates from one of the Mosel’s most renowned and historic vineyard sites. The famous Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard is located on a steep south-facing slope above the Mosel River and is defined by shallow blue slate soils. These soils absorb heat during the day and gradually release it to the vines, creating ideal conditions for Riesling to ripen slowly and develop exceptional character. The old vines, many of them ungrafted, produce grapes of remarkable concentration and expression.

The designation “GG” (Grosses Gewächs) represents the highest category of dry German wine. This classification is reserved exclusively for wines from the finest vineyard sites and is subject to strict quality standards. The combination of the prestigious Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard and its old vines gives this Riesling outstanding depth, precision and a strong sense of origin.

In the glass, the wine is clear and focused. The bouquet reveals aromas of white peach, citrus fruits and ripe yellow fruit, complemented by delicate herbal notes and pronounced slate minerality. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with vibrant acidity, salty mineral character and a long, layered finish with excellent ageing potential.
