Baron Longo Wellenburg 2021 is an organically produced red wine from the South Tyrolean Unterland in northern Italy. Its name recalls the third family name, Longo-Liebenstein zu Wellenburg, linking more than 400 years of family winemaking tradition with the work of Anton Felix von Longo-Liebenstein today. The family estate’s vineyards are located in the south of South Tyrol and are cultivated according to biodynamic principles. Wellenburg is made from Cabernet Sauvignon grown on approximately 40-year-old pergola-trained vines, together with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines grow on calcareous late-glacial deposits with sandy loam over porphyry and a southern exposure. Following spontaneous fermentation in open tonneaux, the wine matures for 20 months on the gross lees in 225-litre French oak barriques, followed by further ageing in the bottle. The 2021 vintage is certified organic. In the glass, it displays a deep, bright ruby-red colour. The bouquet offers aromas of blackcurrant, cherries and dark berries, complemented by delicate spicy notes. On the palate, Wellenburg is elegant, fruit-driven and balanced, with silky tannins, a clearly defined structure and a long, precise finish.

Delicately shimmering straw yellow with golden yellow reflections. Subtle aromas of white peaches, apricots, linden blossoms, roasted almonds and golden brown toast. Hits the palate powerfully, shows fine creaminess, spreads pleasantly, lots of draft, supported by juicy acidity, a harmonious finish.
