The Lagrein DOC Sunnseit 2023 from Weingut Pföstl comes from Schenna near Merano. Lagrein is an indigenous grape variety of South Tyrol and produces a dark, spicy red wine with a clearly regional character. The Sunnseit line sits alongside the Valpitan selection and stands for varietal wines with South Tyrolean origin. The wine is classified as Alto Adige DOC and is made from Lagrein. At the table, it pairs well with flavourful but not overly heavy dishes. Game, beef and hard cheese suit it particularly well, matching its fruity and spicy profile. In the glass, it appears as a dark red wine. The aroma recalls blackberries, fresh cherries, violets, spice and chocolate. On the palate, it is velvety and full, with soft yet noticeable tannin and a fruity-spicy impression.
