Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva Berardegna
The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG Berardenga 2022 from Fèlsina is made from 100% Sangiovese. The grapes come from a selection of the best Chianti Classico vineyards around Castelnuovo Berardenga, north-east of Siena. Soil composition varies across the different sites and includes quartz-rich sandstone, alberese, layered sandstone and clay. After destemming and crushing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks. Skin contact lasts for 14 to 16 days. In spring, the young wine is transferred to French oak tonneaux, where it matures for 12 to 16 months. This is followed by blending and a further bottle-ageing period of at least three to six months. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour. The bouquet combines spicy and floral notes with forest berries and mineral nuances. On the palate, fresh fruit and spice are supported by soft yet substantial tannins. The wine is structured, balanced and full of character.
