The Tor di Lupo Lagrein Riserva DOC 2023 by Andrian is a characterful red wine from Alto Adige. The grapes come from vineyards located at around 250 metres above sea level, where light to medium-heavy, well-drained alluvial soils help shape the profile of Lagrein. After maceration and fermentation in stainless steel, the winemaking process continues with controlled fermentation and gentle movement of the cap; the wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures in barriques. In Alto Adige DOC wines, the term “Riserva” refers to a longer ageing period than that required for the standard version. This usually gives the wine greater depth, structure and ageing potential. In Tor di Lupo, this ambition is also reflected in its substantial maturation and its cellaring potential of 10 to 15 years. In the glass, the wine shows a garnet-red colour with violet reflections. The nose is intense, with notes reminiscent of dark chocolate, sour cherries and forest berries. On the palate, it is velvety, structured and lively, with pleasant freshness and a long, persistent finish.
