South Tyrolean Überetsch

Chardonnay DOC from St. Pauls Winery comes from vineyards around the village of St. Pauls in the Überetsch area of South Tyrol. The vines grow on warm soils composed of gravel, clay and sandy deposits at moderate elevations. These sites benefit from abundant sunshine during the day and cooler nights, creating favourable conditions for balanced ripening and freshness. After harvest, the grapes are carefully processed and fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures. The wine is mainly matured in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve its fresh fruit character and the clear style of the variety. It is classified as Alto Adige DOC and reflects the elegant white wine style typical of South Tyrol.

Chardonnay is one of the most important white grape varieties in the world and has also established itself successfully in South Tyrol. In the alpine vineyards of the region it produces well-balanced wines with fresh acidity, elegant structure and refined fruit expression. In the glass the wine shows a pale straw-yellow colour. The nose reveals fresh aromas of apple, ripe pear and delicate citrus notes. On the palate it is balanced and elegant with fine fruit, lively structure and a harmonious, pleasantly fresh finish.
