The Lagrein DOC “vom Boden” 2025 from Pfannenstielhof comes from the Bozner Boden area in South Tyrol. The vines grow at an altitude of around 270 metres on alluvial sandy soils deposited by the Isarco River, with porphyry beneath. The wine is made from Lagrein grapes grown on vines between 20 and 70 years old, trained using the traditional pergola system. The grapes are harvested by hand. After harvesting, the wine is fermented in large wooden casks and then matured in them for seven to eight months. This ageing method highlights the wine’s full-bodied yet harmonious character while allowing the typical structure of the grape variety to come through clearly. It pairs particularly well with game, grilled or roasted meats and mature cheeses. In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red colour. The aroma combines dark berry fruit with spicy, slightly bitter notes, together with hints of forest floor and eucalyptus. On the palate, it is both fruity and spicy, with soft, velvety tannins, nuances of cocoa bean and cassis, and a lively, fruit-driven finish.
