The 2024 St. Magdalener DOC Morit from Loacker comes from Santa Giustina near Bolzano in Alto Adige. The blend consists of 87% Schiava, 10% Lagrein and 3% Pinot Noir. The grapes come from different parcels of the Schwarhof and Kohlerhof vineyards, situated between 390 and 470 metres above sea level. The soils are characterised by moraine deposits, sand, clay and porphyry. The grapes are harvested by hand. Morit is a certified organic wine and is also produced according to biodynamic principles. Fermentation takes place spontaneously using a pied de cuve. The wine is then aged for twelve months in used large wooden casks. The combination of Alpine and Mediterranean influences, together with the different vineyard exposures, contributes to its distinctive Alto Adige character. In the glass, the wine shows a ruby-red colour with violet highlights. The nose combines cherry, strawberry and forest fruits with nuances of green pepper and black pepper. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with soft, elegant tannins. The finish is long and harmonious.
