The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020 from Col d'Orcia
comes from vineyards located in the southern area of Sant’Angelo in Colle in Montalcino. This certified organic red wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese and follows a traditional winemaking approach. The wine matures for three years in large oak casks, enhancing the authentic character of the grape variety and highlighting the identity of the terroir. In Montalcino, Sangiovese benefits from ideal growing conditions, including warm days, cool nights, and limestone-rich soils that provide structure, freshness, and excellent ageing potential.
The 2021 vintage is regarded as particularly balanced in Montalcino, producing Brunellos with both concentration and elegance. Col d'Orcia deliberately uses oak in a restrained way, allowing the fruit and the classic expression of Sangiovese to remain at the forefront. The result is a harmonious and authentic wine with remarkable clarity.
In the glass, the wine reveals intense aromas of black cherry, ripe wild berries, and subtle spicy notes. Hints of vanilla, dried flowers, and liquorice add further complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with ripe tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, juicy finish.
