Gant Merlot Riserva DOC 2023 is a concentrated South Tyrolean red wine made from Merlot. The grapes come from vineyards located between 250 and 300 metres above sea level. Medium-weight sandy and loamy soils, together with a low yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare, provide the foundation for its dense, balanced structure and distinctive character.

Fermentation on the skins takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with particularly gentle handling of the cap. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation in barriques. For South Tyrolean Merlot, the Riserva designation indicates a legally required minimum ageing period of two years. In Gant, barrique ageing supports the integration of concentrated fruit, soft tannins and layered depth. Its strong ageing potential makes it a wine that already appears harmonious while offering further refinement through additional bottle maturation.

In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour developing towards garnet. The bouquet recalls ripe and dried fruit, particularly plum and blackcurrant. On the palate, it is powerful, dense and complex, supported by pleasantly soft yet age-worthy tannins. The persistent finish is balanced, generous and harmonious.
