The Lagrein Riserva DOC Peter 1893 – 2023 from Andrian Winery pays tribute to the estate’s long winemaking tradition and to its founder, Peter Pircher. The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards in the Bolzano area at around 250 metres above sea level, where sandy soils enriched with porphyry and significant day-to-night temperature variations provide ideal conditions for producing a distinctive Lagrein. After traditional skin fermentation, the wine matures first in small oak barrels and then in large oak casks, gaining additional depth and elegance during the ageing process. In the glass, it displays an intense deep garnet-red colour. The bouquet is layered and expressive, offering aromas of ripe blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries, complemented by hints of dark chocolate and subtle spicy nuances. On the palate, it is powerful yet harmonious, combining concentrated fruit with a velvety texture and finely integrated tannins. Its long and elegant finish highlights the character of this remarkable South Tyrolean red wine, which also offers excellent ageing potential.
