South Tyrolean Überetsch

Pinot Noir Riserva “Lehmstein” DOC from St. Pauls Winery comes from selected vineyards in the Überetsch area of South Tyrol. The vines grow on clay-rich soils that give the wine its name and contribute to its structure and depth. The vineyards benefit from sunny days and cool nights, conditions that allow the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. After harvest, the grapes are carefully processed and fermented on the skins to extract colour and structure. The wine is then aged for an extended period in wooden barrels, developing additional complexity and refinement. Pinot Noir is one of the world’s most noble red grape varieties and thrives particularly well in South Tyrol. In the cooler vineyard sites of the region it produces elegant and structured wines with refined fruit and remarkable finesse. The designation Riserva indicates that the wine has been aged longer than a standard DOC wine. This extended maturation allows the wine to gain greater depth, balance and aromatic complexity. In the glass the wine shows an intense ruby-red colour. The nose reveals aromas of red berries, cherry and delicate spicy notes. On the palate it is elegant and structured with fine tannins, juicy fruit and a long, harmonious finish.
