The Castel Campan 2023 from Manincor is an exceptional organic and biodynamic red wine from South Tyrol, captivating with its remarkable depth, elegance and finesse. This exclusive blend of 87% Cabernet Franc and 13% Merlot combines the distinctive qualities of two outstanding vineyard sites to create a wine of impressive character and expression.
The Cabernet Franc comes from the elevated Langeben vineyard on the Manincor hillside, where the cooler climate encourages refined fruit aromas and elegant spice notes. The Merlot grows on the warm, southeast-facing slopes of Tatzenschroat, where old vines contribute additional richness and suppleness. Despite variable weather conditions, the 2023 vintage produced beautifully ripened grapes. Spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats, four weeks of maceration and subsequent ageing for 20 months in barriques give this remarkable red wine its complex structure and excellent ageing potential.
In the glass, Castel Campan displays a brilliant, deep purple-red colour. Its multilayered bouquet reveals enticing aromas of red and black berries, complemented by oriental spices and delicate hints of leather and tobacco. On the palate, it impresses with its powerful structure, velvety tannins and remarkable concentration. A long, fruit-driven finish brings this exceptional tasting experience to a beautifully harmonious conclusion.
