Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso DOC
The Marchesi Fumanelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso DOC 2024 is produced in the heart of Valpolicella Classica from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes. The south-east-facing vineyards lie at elevations between 120 and 200 metres on well-drained limestone and clay soils. The vines are around 40 years old on average and are trained using the Pergola Veronese and Guyot systems. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Following traditional vinification, the wine undergoes the classic Ripasso process on Amarone pomace, adding further structure and complexity. It then matures for eight months in second- and third-use French tonneaux. It pairs particularly well with rich pasta dishes, semi-mature cheeses and cured meats. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour. The bouquet combines spicy notes with ripe fruit, cherry and wild berries. On the palate, it is rich and deep, with soft, velvety tannins, lively freshness and a long, precise finish.
