Cabernet-Merlot Riserva DOC Flora
The Cabernet-Merlot Riserva DOC Flora 2023 from Girlan combines Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in equal proportions. The grapes come from selected vineyards in the Oltradige and Bassa Atesina areas. In the Oltradige, they grow in well-ventilated vineyards at 450 to 500 metres above sea level, while the Bassa Atesina provides warm, deep and sandy soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in small containers. After destemming, the must is transferred by gravity into stainless-steel tanks, where fermentation takes place over 18 to 20 days. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 20 months in barriques, half of which are first-use. After blending, it undergoes a further eight months of bottle ageing, an extended maturation that shapes its Riserva character. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour. Forest berry aromas combine with delicate balsamic hints of rosemary and thyme. The palate is structured and elegant, with fine tannins and a harmonious, pleasing character.
