The Vernatsch DOC 2025 from the Muri-Gries Monastery Winery is a classic South Tyrolean red wine from the warm areas around Bolzano, Appiano and Caldaro. The vines grow on sandy moraine soils at altitudes between 350 and 400 meters, where the mild climate and high sun exposure ensure even ripening. These conditions enhance the typical lightness and freshness of the grape variety. The grapes are carefully harvested and then fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. A maceration of around eight days ensures balanced extraction of color and aromas, while aging in stainless steel preserves the varietal character and freshness. Vernatsch is one of South Tyrol’s most traditional grape varieties, known for its fruity, approachable style and high drinkability. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, aromas of cherry, red berries and violet emerge, accompanied by delicate almond notes. On the palate, it is smooth, fruity and well-balanced, with soft tannins, lively acidity and a fresh, harmonious finish.
