The Merlot Riserva DOC Vigna Kastelaz 2023 from Elena Walch originates from the prestigious single vineyard Kastelaz in Tramin, a steep southwest-facing hillside with limestone-rich soils and ideal climatic conditions for producing exceptional red wines. Intense sunshine combined with cool nighttime temperatures allows the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness, giving the wine remarkable elegance and complexity. Careful hand harvesting and precise winemaking further highlight the unique character of this outstanding terroir.

The designation “Riserva” indicates a wine that undergoes a longer legally required aging period, allowing it to develop greater depth, structure, and harmony. For Vigna Kastelaz, maturation in oak casks enhances this evolution by creating a refined balance between fruit and subtle spice while preserving the identity of the vineyard. In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby-red color. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe cherries, plums, and dark forest berries, complemented by hints of chocolate, tobacco, and refined spices.
