The Sauvignon IGT Salis 2021 from Oberstein Winery is a distinctive white wine from Tscherms, near Merano in South Tyrol. The Sauvignon Blanc vines grow on southeast-facing slopes at altitudes between 400 and 500 metres. Weathered granite soils, rich in mineral components, characterise the vineyards and contribute to the wine's distinctive sense of origin. The name Salis refers to its pronounced saline minerality, highlighting its individual character.
Following an extended period of skin contact, fermentation takes place in tonneaux. The wine then matures in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks. This careful winemaking process combines aromatic depth with freshness and structure. Gentle grape handling and thoughtful maturation allow the Sauvignon Blanc to develop its complex character.
In the glass, the Salis displays a brilliant straw-yellow colour. Its intense bouquet combines aromas of citrus fruits, quince and delicate mineral nuances with hints of honey. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with lively acidity and pronounced saline minerality. The long, distinctive finish brings this complex tasting experience to a harmonious close.
