Primitivo del Salento "Torcicoda"
The Primitivo del Salento IGT Torcicoda 2024 from Tormaresca is a distinctive red wine from Puglia, combining the intense fruit character of Primitivo with elegance and a harmonious structure. The grapes come from Salento, a sun-drenched wine region in southern Italy, where the Mediterranean climate shapes the wine's unmistakable personality.
Torcicoda originates from the Masseria Maìme estate near San Pietro Vernotico, where the vineyards stretch between woodlands and pine groves towards the Adriatic coast. The slightly overripe grapes are gently processed before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A maceration period of approximately 13 days encourages the development of colour, structure and aromatic depth. This is followed by around 18 months of maturation, bringing additional harmony and complexity to the wine.
In the glass, Torcicoda displays an intense ruby-red colour with violet reflections. Its complex bouquet reveals aromas of cherries, redcurrants and plums, complemented by delicate notes of liquorice, chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, offering elegant tannins, pleasant freshness and a lingering finish reminiscent of cherry jam.
