The Abendrot 2020 from Thomas Niedermayr is a distinctive Orange Wine from South Tyrol, made exclusively from Souvignier Gris grapes. The grapes come from the Pichl vineyard near St. Pauls in Eppan, where the soils are characterised by a variety of rock formations. Its distinctive winemaking process gives this wine a unique personality and remarkable depth.

Following careful hand harvesting, fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine remains in contact with the grape skins for three months before ageing for a further 20 months on the fine lees, divided equally between stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels. It is then bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its authentic character and highlighting the distinctive style of this skin-contact white wine.

In the glass, Abendrot displays a brilliant orange colour with reddish reflections. The nose reveals notes of citrus peel, ripe apple and delicate spices. On the palate, it impresses with vibrant freshness, a layered structure and a velvety texture. Its long, harmonious finish makes it an expressive and exceptional wine.
