Moccagatta Barbaresco DOCG 2023 is made from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from three different vineyard parcels. The vineyards lie at around 250 to 260 metres above sea level and are predominantly west- and south-facing. A combination of grey and bluish calcareous marl with sandy components contributes different nuances and gives the wine its balanced character. The grapes are harvested between late September and early October. Following temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for twelve months in French oak barriques and is then aged for at least a further nine months in bottle. Moccagatta cultivates its vineyards in the heart of the Langhe, around Barbaresco, where the Minuto family has been involved in winegrowing since the 19th century. In the glass, the wine shows a classic red hue. The nose is led by fruit-driven aromas accompanied by refined, complex nuances. On the palate, it is elegant, juicy and well balanced, with well-integrated tannins and an approachable yet characteristic Nebbiolo structure.
