The Wunder IGT White 2025 from Ansitz Waldgries is an exceptional Blanc de Noir from South Tyrol, beautifully expressing the distinctive character of its origin. The grapes come from the steep, southeast-facing Oberleitach vineyard in St. Magdalena near Bolzano, at an altitude of approximately 500 metres. Here, old, deep-rooted vines of Pinot Noir and Blaterle grow in gravelly porphyry soils. The historic vineyard, known as "Wunder", has belonged to Christian Plattner's family since 2023. Its steep slopes require extensive manual work but provide excellent conditions for producing wines with remarkable character. By limiting the contact between the grape juice and the skins, the red Pinot Noir grapes are transformed into a white wine. Maturation takes place partly in stainless steel tanks (60%) and partly in tonneaux (40%). In the glass, Wunder displays a pale straw-yellow colour. Its complex bouquet combines spicy notes with aromas of redcurrants, white peach, ripe pear, citrus fruits and hazelnuts. On the palate, it is powerful and multifaceted, revealing pronounced minerality, alpine freshness and an elegant structure.
