The Pinot Blanc DOC Gaider 2024 from Bergmannhof Winery is an elegant white wine from South Tyrol, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of its high-altitude origins. The grapes come from the Koflerhof vineyard in Gaid near Eppan, situated at an impressive altitude of 800 metres. Planted in 2017, it is the highest vineyard on the estate and in the entire municipality of Eppan. Clay-rich soils with limestone gravel and particularly stony sections provide the foundation for this single-varietal Pinot Blanc.
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand at the end of September. Spontaneous fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 16 months on its lees in previously used 500-litre oak barrels. This extended ageing process adds structure and depth. It pairs particularly well with asparagus, risotto and delicate fish dishes.
In the glass, the Gaider displays an intense straw-yellow colour with golden reflections. Its bouquet reveals aromas of yellow apple, dandelion flowers and lemon zest. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, with stimulating acidity and a juicy, lingering finish.
