The Lagrein Helen 2024 from Fliederhof Winery is a distinctive South Tyrolean red wine that combines intense fruit flavours with delicate spice and a smooth structure. Made exclusively from Lagrein grapes, it originates from the traditional St. Magdalena wine-growing area near Bolzano. The wine takes its name from Helene Ramoser, whose passion for the grape's deep colour and spicy character remains closely associated with this wine.
The grapes grow at approximately 300 metres above sea level, on the southern edge of the Isarco Valley. The soils are characterised by clay-rich glacial moraine deposits, river gravel and weathered quartz porphyry. While the ground stores warmth during the day, cool air from the Isarco Valley provides a natural balance in temperature. Following temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures for nine months in large French oak barrels.
In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour with purple reflections. The bouquet combines aromas of sour cherries, black pepper and subtle smoky notes. On the palate, it is juicy and lively, with fresh acidity, firm tannins and a spicy, distinctive finish.
