The Lagrein Riserva DOC Sanct Valentin 2023 from St. Michael-Eppan is a powerful South Tyrolean red wine from the prestigious Sanct Valentin line. This line stands for elegant, complex wines from selected vineyards, marked by aromatic finesse, minerality and good ageing potential. Lagrein is one of South Tyrol’s indigenous red grape varieties and, in suitable sites around Bolzano, produces deep and structured wines. The term Riserva indicates longer ageing and highlights density, maturity and ageing potential. Sanct Valentin Lagrein has been produced since 2000 and matures for twelve months in small oak barrels, followed by a further ten months in stainless steel to gain harmony and balance. In the glass, the wine appears dark, dense and intense. The nose shows dark berries, spicy nuances and the characteristic depth of Lagrein. On the palate, it is powerful, robust and structured, with present fruit, well-integrated freshness and a long-lasting impression. An expressive South Tyrolean Lagrein with depth, character and excellent ageing potential.
