Lagrein Riserva DOC Weingarten Klosteranger
The Muri-Gries Lagrein Riserva DOC Weingarten Klosteranger 2022 comes from a historic single vineyard in the Gries district of Bolzano. Covering around 2.7 hectares, the Klosteranger lies directly beside the Muri-Gries Abbey and is protected by the old monastery walls. The vineyard is closely connected to the history of the estate and has been carefully selected and developed over many years to bring out the full potential of Lagrein. The vines grow on alluvial soils formed by the Talvera River, with a subsoil influenced by Bolzano quartz porphyry. Only grapes from this individual vineyard are used for the Weingarten Klosteranger. After vinification, the wine matures for around 22 months in small oak barrels. The result is a concentrated yet precise and elegant Lagrein Riserva with a strong sense of origin and impressive depth. Its powerful structure makes it an excellent partner for braised game, roast beef and mature, flavourful cheeses. In the glass, the Klosteranger 2022 shows a deep garnet-red colour. The bouquet combines aromas of dark berries and raspberry with refined notes of coffee. On the palate it is full-bodied and concentrated, while remaining finely structured and elegant. Firm, well-integrated tannins add depth and lead into a long, persistent finish.
