The Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva DOC Sass Roà 2023 from Laimburg Estate Winery is a distinctive red wine from South Tyrol, characterised by its powerful structure and expressive personality. It belongs to the winery's Burgselektion range and is made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Its name originates from the Ladin legends of the Dolomites and means “glowing red stone in pale rock”. The grapes grow in the Ölleiten vineyard near Caldaro, on a southeast-facing slope at approximately 300 metres above sea level. The vineyards are characterised by glacial moraine soils and sandy clay soils, with vines trained using both trellis and traditional pergola systems. Ageing for 20 months in barriques gives the wine additional depth and structure. In the glass, Sass Roà displays a deep purple-red colour with garnet reflections. Its bouquet combines aromas of blackcurrant and delicate hints of lemon balm with subtle notes of oak. On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied and powerful, with a pronounced tannic structure and a long, lingering finish.
