Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Vigne Alte
The Amarone della Valpolicella Vigne Alte 2021 from Zeni comes from the Valpolicella Classica area, a historic wine-growing region nestled in the hills north of Verona. The vineyards grow on predominantly red and brown soils, characterised by limestone marl, basalt and rocky debris. These distinctive geological conditions provide the foundation for a characterful red wine made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes.
Only carefully selected grapes are harvested by hand. The bunches are then dried in special crates for approximately three months, concentrating their natural components and aromas. Following traditional fermentation with skin contact lasting around 20 to 25 days, the Amarone matures in large oak barrels for two to four years, depending on the vintage. This meticulous production process gives the wine its remarkable concentration, complexity and elegant structure.
In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour with garnet reflections. The complex bouquet reveals elegant aromas of fruit preserved in alcohol, cocoa and delicate spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth and harmonious, with pleasant warmth and a powerful, long-lasting finish.
