The Nebbiolo DOC Coste della Sesia 2023 by Travaglini comes from northern Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa. Here, Alpine influences and soils of volcanic origin play a defining role in local viticulture. For several generations, Travaglini has devoted particular attention to Nebbiolo and is one of the long-established producers in the Gattinara area. This wine shows the younger, fresher and more versatile side of Nebbiolo. The grapes grow in an area where cool air currents from the Alps and mineral-rich soils provide excellent conditions for elegant, clearly defined wines. The 2023 vintage combines the character of its origin and grape variety in a style that is approachable yet precise. In the glass, the wine displays a bright ruby-red colour with garnet highlights. The bouquet gradually reveals ripe fruit, earthy notes of undergrowth, incense and wild flowers, accompanied by almost iron-like mineral nuances. On the palate, it is refined, fresh and medium-bodied, with pronounced spice and a long, persistent finish.
