The Barbera d’Alba DOC 2024 from Moccagatta Winery is a fruit-forward red wine from Piedmont, reflecting the lively character of the Barbera grape. The grapes come from four vineyard plots between Barbaresco and Neive in the Langhe region. The vines grow at altitudes between 240 and 270 metres on grey and bluish limestone marl soils with sandy components. The different vineyard exposures contribute to the distinctive character of this blend.
Harvest takes place between late September and early October. The grapes then undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Six months of ageing in French oak barriques completes the maturation process. The result is an approachable red wine that combines generous fruit flavours with refreshing acidity. It pairs particularly well with pasta, cured meats and meat dishes. In the glass, the Barbera displays a bright ruby-red colour with violet reflections. Its bouquet is distinctly fruit-driven. On the palate, it is full-bodied, juicy and fresh, with vibrant fruit flavours and a harmonious, approachable style.
