The Lagrein Riserva DOC LG 2022 from Pitzner Estate is an authentic expression of one of South Tyrol’s most iconic grape varieties. The grapes originate from vineyards located in Cardano and Bolzano-Gries at elevations ranging from 250 to 380 metres above sea level. Sandy porphyry-derived soils contribute distinctive minerality, depth and a strong sense of place. As a Riserva, the wine benefits from an extended ageing period, adding complexity, elegance and excellent ageing potential.

Following manual harvest, the grapes are carefully selected and vinified with great attention to detail. Fermentation takes place slowly with gentle extraction, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then matured in barriques for 18 months, including a proportion of new oak barrels. Before bottling, the individual lots are blended to achieve balance and harmony. In the glass, it displays an intense dark garnet-red colour. The bouquet combines aromas of ripe berries, cherry and barberry with spicy notes of tobacco, leather and liquorice. On the palate, it is structured yet elegant, offering a velvety texture, firm tannins and well-integrated acidity. The long and persistent finish highlights both the character of the variety and its South Tyrolean origin.
