Riesling Praepositus
The Riesling DOC Praepositus 2023 from Abbazia di Novacella comes from the Bressanone basin in the Valle Isarco, where the vines grow at elevations between 650 and 750 metres. The south to south-west facing vineyards are planted on light, gravelly moraine soils with mica schist, paragneiss and quartzite. The high altitude and distinctive soil conditions play an important role in shaping the character of this South Tyrolean Riesling. The Praepositus range comprises high-quality, age-worthy wines from selected vineyards that have proven particularly suitable over many years. For the Riesling Praepositus, a small proportion of the grapes is harvested later. Fermentation and maturation take place in stainless steel tanks, followed by an additional period of bottle ageing. It pairs particularly well with fish dishes, sweet-and-sour preparations and delicate dishes based on white meat. In the glass, it displays a bright golden-yellow colour. The intense bouquet recalls orange, peach, dried apricot, candied pineapple and honey. On the palate, it is fruity and juicy, with lively acidity and a subtle touch of fruit sweetness.
