The Pinot Noir Riserva DOC Lafóa 2022 from Schreckbichl Winery is an expressive red wine from South Tyrol, combining the elegance of Pinot Noir with remarkable depth. The Lafóa range was established in the 1980s through the quality-focused initiative of Luis Raifer. It represents a selection of wines distinguished by structure, refinement and excellent ageing potential. The grapes come from vineyards situated at an altitude of around 400 metres, where moraine soils composed of porphyry and dolomite material, together with calcareous gravel soils, shape the growing conditions.
A portion of the grapes undergoes cold maceration before fermentation. This is followed by approximately three weeks of fermentation on the skins in large wooden vats. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 16 months in oak barriques, some new and others previously used. This careful ageing process enhances its complex structure, adding further depth and elegance. In the glass, the Lafóa displays a deep ruby-red colour. Its intense bouquet combines aromas of cherries, raspberries and red forest berries with delicate spicy and toasted notes. On the palate, it is powerful and complex, with firm tannins and an elegant, lingering finish.
