Pinot Grigio DOC Sanct Valentin
The Sanct Valentin range represents the finest wines of St. Michael-Eppan Winery, combining carefully selected grapes, meticulous winemaking and excellent ageing potential. Pinot Grigio has been part of this prestigious collection since 1986 and ranks among Italy's most highly awarded Pinot Grigio wines. The grapes for Pinot Grigio Sanct Valentin 2024 come from selected vineyards in the Überetsch area of South Tyrol, situated at altitudes between 420 and 600 metres. The vines grow on limestone-rich gravel soils, and the grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation, including malolactic fermentation, and ageing on the lees take place in barriques and tonneaux. After approximately one year, the individual batches are blended, followed by at least eight additional months of maturation in concrete tanks. This careful winemaking process gives the wine structure, depth and excellent ageing potential. In the glass, the wine displays an intense straw-yellow colour. Its complex bouquet combines fruity aromas of apple and pear with delicate hints of vanilla, toasted white bread and hazelnut. On the palate, it is full-bodied and creamy, with well-integrated acidity and subtle smoky nuances.
