The Pinot Noir Libra 2022 from Ansitz Kränzel is an expressive red wine from Cermes near Merano, combining depth and elegance. The grapes come from approximately 40-year-old vines in the Mitterberg vineyard. Soils shaped by moraine deposits and granite provide the foundation for this distinctive South Tyrolean Pinot Noir, giving it remarkable character and complexity. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand in several passes to capture different stages of ripeness. Some of the grapes are fermented as whole bunches, while the remainder are destemmed. Following a period of cold maceration, fermentation takes place under controlled temperatures. The wine then matures for around 17 months in oak barrels, allowing its structure and aromatic complexity to develop further. In the glass, Libra displays a bright garnet-red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of red forest berries, ripe sour cherries and delicate spicy notes of thyme, cloves and cardamom. On the palate, it is elegant and well-balanced, with fine-grained tannins, lively freshness and lingering fruit flavours. A harmonious Pinot Noir with a complex structure and a long, refined finish.
