Contadi Castaldi

"Contadi" and "Castaldi" refer to the agricultural units and their managers in medieval Franciacorta.

Contadi Castaldi, founded in the late 1980s, represents the dynamic and contemporary interpretation of the Franciacorta tradition. With around 160 hectares of vineyards, the winery produces approximately 1,300,000 bottles annually. The name "Contadi Castaldi" combines the historical terms "Contadi" and "Castaldi," which referred to the agricultural units and their managers in medieval Franciacorta. This connection reflects the winery's deep roots in the region.

The philosophy of Contadi Castaldi is based on the art of creating cuvées, where the authentic personality of the entire Franciacorta area is expressed in every bottle. The winery was established through the conversion of an old brick kiln, acquired by Vittorio and Mariella Moretti. The spacious rooms and long tunnels, once used for firing bricks, proved to be ideal for aging the Franciacorta vintages and welcoming wine lovers.

Today, Contadi Castaldi spans 178 hectares with 115 different vineyards, ensuring a diverse and unique range of aromas and flavors in its Franciacorta wines. This diversity arises from the careful selection of vineyards and the passion of the winemakers.
